You need to know the proper way to apply a ceramic coating. It doesn't mean you have to know everything about it, but you should know what to look for to get a properly applied one. The truth is - a lot of people pay for improperly applied coatings. This article will let you know what you should expect from your chosen detailer.

Every detailer should start with a complete detail of the exterior. A proper wash and cleaning first. Next is a step that many detailers skip, but is necessary. This is claying and chemical decontamination - this applies to wheel faces and barrels as well. Without this step the coating will not bond properly with the clear coat. The contamination will hinder the durability and performance greatly. 

Following the wash and detail is paint correction. This step is not necessary, but is highly suggested - even for vehicles straight off the lot.  You are about have a semi-permanent coating applied on top of your paint. You want the paint to be in its best condition, allowing for the highest gloss. Paint correction is simply removing defect including scratching, oxidation, and other imperfections.

Finally is the application of the coating. This step requires patience and full attention. Improper application will lead to high spotting, and the accompanying complications. Improperly applied coatings have to be wet sanded off and reapplied. 

After the application it will sit at least 12 hours depending on the product. (usually over night). Then it is all done.
